Indenture for Jack Rouse

10 November 1823 Antebellum (1820-1861)

Twelve-year indenture contract for Jack Rouse, a nine-year-old African American boy. Rouse's mother indentured him to "Phebe McLean," likely the widow of college professor John Maclean Sr.
