Bell of the U.S.S. Princeton

Antebellum (1820-1861)

Original bell of the U.S.S. Princeton, a 19th-century warship, now on display in Princeton, New Jersey. During a demonstration in 1844, one of the ship's heavy guns exploded and killed six people, including former Princeton student and Secretary of State Abel P. Upshur.
