Princeton & Slavery: A Paradox of American History

Princeton University, founded as the College of New Jersey in 1746, exemplifies the central paradox of American history. From the start, liberty and slavery were intertwined.

Professor Martha A. Sandweiss, the founder and director of the Princeton & Slavery Project, will share the Project’s findings and discuss how the research team explored the University’s historical ties to the institution of slavery. The project has been featured in The New York Times among other publications.

The Princeton Association of New York City (PANYC) is proud to sponsor this event together with the Princeton Club of NY.
