The Princeton & Slavery Project: What We Learned and How We Learned It

Princeton University, founded as the College of New Jersey in 1746, exemplifies the central paradox of American history. From the start, liberty and slavery were intertwined.

Professor Martha A. Sandweiss, the founder and director of the Princeton & Slavery Project, will share the Project’s findings and discuss how the research team explored the University’s historical ties to the institution of slavery. The project has been featured in The New York Times among other publications.

Sponsored by the Department of History and the Princeton & Slavery Project. Full details available at the Princeton Reunions schedule of open events.
